Seal Beach Fire: Death Toll Rises To Eight  :

Seal Beach police said the death toll from the shooting of living has risen to eight people. A ninth victim is in critical condition at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.
"It could be one of our greatest tragedies," police Sgt. Steve Bowles said.
Gunman opened fire inside the crowded living room Wednesday, the store strewn with bodies. Police said he had acted alone, although investigators said they were still scrambling to piece together what sparked the violence.

Eyewitnesses said it was his ex-wife and the two were involved in a custody dispute.
The alleged murderer was arrested a few blocks from the Meritage Room, the Pacific Coast Highway store was full of customers and stylists in the shooting.
One victim was apparently the owner of the salon, Randy Fannin said one parent.
"Randy is dead," said the niece of the owner, Tami Scarcella. "Randy is dead sure."

"We thought maybe it was fireworks," she said. "But it just does not stop. Someone, he saw that he had shot."

The shooting of the evening left the normally placid seaside town struggling to make sense of the carnage. A police spokesman said the shooting had taken the city and its police forces in small uncharted territory.
Bowles said the scene was horrible. "There are victims all over the living room," he said.

Witnesses and survivors have been taken to both an apartment complex close to settle their nerves. Other costs outside the police lines in the neighborhood shopping center, tells what happened.
Marissa Pei said she had been to the gym earlier in the day with a friend before hitting out in his new shopping center. She sobbed.

"I had chills and had to hold back my tears," he said. "I can not imagine that anyone is sick of the van and do it to anyone."
