Roger Williams University, commonly abbreviated as RWU, is a private, mixed Art, University situated in 140 acres (0.57 km2) in Bristol, Rhode Island, above Mt. Hope Bay. In 1956 he was designated as a theologian and Rhode Island, Roger Williams, co-founder. The university has no religious beliefs.


The History, Academic And Campus Life :


Operations of the university by the year 1919, when Northeastern University opened a campus branch of the YMCA building in Providence, Rhode Island. In 1940, the YMCA took over the school's Board of Directors and the YMCA Institute granted the first associate degrees in 1948. In 1956, the Institute has received a Charter of Fundamental Rights of the State should be two-year, degree granting institution name of Roger Williams Junior College. In 1960, Roger Williams College began granting bachelor's degree. Needing a bigger campus, the College purchased 80 acres (32 hectares) of coastal land and moved to the main campus in Bristol in 1969. (RWU continues to operate a branch campus in Providence).

In 1989 a new president, Dr. A. Roger Williams started Natale Sicuro plan for 90 years, and was also president of the new School of Law Roger Williams, and in 1992 the name change led by Roger Williams College Roger Williams University. RWU celebrated its 50 anniversary in 2006.

Universities enroll approximately 3800 primary and 850 students from 42 different arts majors and five professional schools. And 'one of the few universities in the United States to offer undergraduate degrees in marine biology, directly [edit], is an architect of Economics appreciated [edit], and is the only law school in Rhode Island. About 85% of students live on campus. The university is one of the few institutions offering online training and digital forensics program, such as Computer Networking and Security.

On Friday, July 2, 2010, Dr. Roy Nirschel resigned as president of the university . The university announced Tuesday, March 29, 2011 and Donald J. Farish become its tenth president

The university has a campus newspaper a week, the Hawks' Herald, which publishes about 20 subjects per school year, and an FM radio station 88.3 WQRI. The radio station plays all student radio to hip hop. The college has 16 varsity sports teams play in the Division III level as members of the Commonwealth Coast Conference.

The university has established a program in a civil discourse, including the reason for the press and respect, which brought speakers such as Salman Rushdie, David Gergen, Prime Minister and Nobel Laureate, David Trimble, Khaled Hosseini, author of The Kite Runner, Live Aid Bob Geldof and other campuses. The University has established offices in London and Florence, is working with sister institutions in France, Brazil, Vietnam and Hong Kong has a broad portfolio of study abroad with more than 30 countries and is home to an innovative project center macro diplomacy, including engineering, architecture, technology, economic development and international relations in a common goal. Also recently been recognized as a non-governmental member of the United Nations.

In January 2009, a major communications group worked to create a catalog of video thumbnails on the issues of sustainability. Part of this work has appeared in the PBS special "Planet Forward" One of these students, Kyle Toomey, also appeared on the planet forward special that aired on April 15, 2009.
