USC Trojans Football

USC Trojans football program was established in 1888, belongs to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I FBS and the Pacific-12 Conference (Pac-12). Trojans are a power of football in NCAA history, and claim to 11 national championships. Total 472 Trojans have been the NFL Draft, more than any other university.

In 2004, USC elected preseason # 1 by the Associated Press, with the return of sophomore Leinart and running backs Reggie Bush and Lendal White. Stanford :
Stanford is USC's oldest rival, in a series that dates to 1905. In the early years of football on the West Coast, the power sat in the Bay Area with the Stanford-Cal rivalry and USC rose to challenge the two established programs. During the early and mid-20th century Stanford football occasionally enjoyed periods of great regional success on the gridiron. USC and Stanford, being the two private universities with major football teams on the west coast, naturally drew the ire of one another. During the early 2000s, however, Stanford had not maintained their earlier success and the rivalry has faded to many USC fans. The rivalry was renewed with the arrival of Jim Harbaugh at Stanford in 2007. Harbaugh defeated Carroll 2-1 in their three matchups with both victories occurring in the Coliseum. In the 2009 meeting USC sustained their worst loss in 43 years and surrendered the most points to an opponent. This led the Los Angeles Times to declare that Stanford was "at the top of the USC 'Must Kill' list. Under Harbaugh's leadership, Stanford has defeated USC in 3 of the last 4 meetings, winning in 2007, 2009, and 2010.

Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum ,The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is one of the largest stadiums in the U.S. USC played football at the Coliseum since the stadium was built in 1923. In fact, the Trojans have played in the college football game was first held (beating Pomona College in October. 23 to 7 June 1923). The Colosseum was the setting for the 1932 Summer Olympics and hosted the opening and closing ceremonies and track events of the 1984 Olympic Games. Over the years, the Coliseum has been home to many sports teams outside of the Trojans, including UCLA football, NFL Los Angeles Rams and the Raiders, the Chargers in Los Angeles in 1960, AFL, and Los Angeles Dodgers baseball including the World Series in 1959. The Coliseum has hosted various events from other concerts and speeches to track meets and racing a motorcycle. The Coliseum has a current capacity of 92,000 seats (almost all are chair seats again).


Coliseum is located on 17 acres (69,000 m2) in Exposition Park, which also houses museums, gardens and the Los Angeles Sports Arena. He also earned the nickname "the old lady."

USC football team practices on campus Howard Jones Field, which has been extended in the autumn of 1998 to include Brian Kennedy Field. In early 1999, Goux Gate - named after the popular assistant coach Marv Goux long - was built at the mouth of the driving range.
