Since the early sixties, the soft voice of Glen Campbell has sold a staggering 45 million records. After the meeting moving, Andy Welch for the Rhinestone Cowboy singer is finally letting go
Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia, which affects one of 14 children under the age of 65 years, and one in six of more than 80 E 'more than half a million people in the UK alone.
The figures make sober reading, but to fully understand the effects of the cruel disease that you meet someone who struggles with it.
Glen Campbell has announced his Alzheimer's diagnosis in June of this year, was given the bad news over the past six months.

The year 75 is confused and angry, responding to questions with short sentences he can - "Yes, I liked" to be a stock answer.
"I do not know how bad the disease is," says Campbell, a twinkle in her eye on the decline. "I'm still as stupid as ever."
Fortunately, his wife, and the driving force behind the Campbell area, Kim is ready to assist the details.
This is not ideal, of course, but seeing how to work together and how well they are still in love after 29 years of marriage, provides a silver lining as necessary otherwise might have been a good meeting painful .
To defeat the disease does not give the public full light of the eye, Campbell decided it was time to leave gracefully albums - Ghost poignant canvas, was released in August - and yet another UK tour, which begins October 21st.
"There were people around him who have been affected, if this information came out, people do the book for fear it would have bad shows," said Campbell producer, Julian Raymond.

"There was concern that would hurt. And because he has decided to disclose the diagnosis, it was just the opposite."
Kim added: "After Glen is a collection of his latest album covers of 2008 Meet Glen Campbell, Julien said he wanted to do another album of original music.
"During the recording of this issue, Julian kept a diary of the things Glen would say in the day, and so some of the songs were co-written. Julian had all these things in writing.
"Glen could suggest me sitting on the other side of the glass studio and say something like," There is no me without it. "Julian had it in his book and then they wrote it as a song. Now, it is not me ... Without you, the last song of the album."
If this song is about the relationship of Campbell and his wife, there are other significant texts of the disc, with guests Chris Isaak, Brian Setzer, Dick Dale and the (lap), Billy Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins (no not me ... you) and the Dandy Warhols (Strong).
"Some days I feel so confused, sir. My past is my way. I need people that I love you, Lord, more and more each day. I know one thing, the world has been good to me," opens the album a better place.


There is also a reflection thousand lives, when the first line: ".. at least I lived a thousand lives Travelled the road with no end in sight I have seen the miracles and the moon and a lonely goodbye."
And 'unlikely that the dry eye in the house when Campbell makes these songs on tour.
"We do not want to focus on the bad things, but," says Kim. "We are looking for a career in this celebration, is not intended to be sad. We're just going to enjoy."


The Campbells turned two son Cal, 28, and Shannon, 26, and daughter Ashley, 24 The trio is in a group together, people who want instant to open each show with their father while Debby, Glen's eldest daughter from his first marriage (Glen Kim is the fourth wife), singing duets and choruses in the orchestra of his father.
"It's like a family vacation great when you're on tour," says Kim. "We have learned to appreciate every day."

Glen Campbell was born April 22, 1936, in Delight, Arkansas. He was one of 12 children, and when he was 16 years old, has had enough of life on the farm - his father was a sharecropper - and went to live with his uncle, Dick Bills, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Already had a guitarist, he joined his uncle's band, then going to form their own team, the Western Wranglers.


In 1959, Campbell moved to Los Angeles to become a session player and that's when things really took to it, falls with the Wrecking Crew, a group of musicians for hire, who played on virtually every pop record in Los Angeles during the sixties.
Campbell, with drummer Hal Blaine, bassist Carol Kaye, guitarist Al Casey and many others who have made recordings by Nancy Sinatra, The Monkees, The Carpenters, The Byrds, The Beach Boys, The Mamas and the Papas, Simon and Garfunkel, Bing Crosby, Leonard Cohen, Nat King Cole.


Phil Spector were going to the band, too, creating a legend, so often imitated wall of sound heard on recordings by The Ronettes, The Righteous Brothers, Darlene Love and Sonny and Cher.
Campbell also joined The Beach Boys Brian Wilson decided she did not want to travel more, and has lent his guitar Frank Sinatra strangers in the night.


When his solo career took off in the decade later, gave him his own television show, The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour, which took place between 1969 and 1972. Guest musicians include the Beatles - which sold more than Campbell in 1969 - Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Roger Miller, Neil Diamond and Linda Ronstadt, Steve Martin while he was one of the writers. 50 million Americans each week tune incredible.


"I loved playing with The Wrecking Crew," he said today. "I came to play with great people and I certainly gained more of these days I did as a solo artist" - a reference to a comment by Kaye crew bassist Carol, that they each earned more than the president during their heyday.
"I also like golf," he said. In fact, golf is the only subject on which Campbell returns to life, speak fluently, without hesitation.
What is your disability? I dare. "I have a big problem," he smiles. "I'm white Protestant."
Adding, with joy: "How can I still be a return got to play a role?".
