Jon Jones (fighter)


Jonathan D. Jones (born July 19, 1987) is an American mixed martial artist of Endicott, New York. He is the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.

Jones, the youngest champion in UFC history, joined the organization after professional wrestling for only four months. is currently the number one light heavyweight champion of the world by many media,  as well as one of the ten best pound for pound fighters.  also has the longest range in the history of the UFC to 84.5 inches

Mixed martial arts career
Early Career 

Before the MMA career, Jones has been the stand-out high school wrestler and state champion. He also won the JUCO national championship Iowa Central Community College.

Jones made his MMA pro debut in April 2008. He quickly earned an undefeated record of 6-0 over a period of three months, finishing all his opponents. This brought to the attention of the UFC, who asked him to take the match as a late replacement on a two weeks' notice in July 2008.

His last game before signing with the UFC Jones won the Moyses Gabin at BCX 5 USKBA Light Heavyweight Championship. He won the fight via TKO in the second round.

Ultimate Fighting Championship 

Jones UFC debut came against the other Gusmao at UFC 87 August 9, 2008. Jones took the fight on two weeks notice as a late replacement for Tomasz DRWAL. He made an impressive show with takedowns and unorthodox striking, such as elbows and a spinning back kick. Although it is a heavy underdog, Jones took a unanimous decision victory.

In his second fight, Jones has fought Stephan Bonnar at UFC veteran 94 on January 31, 2009. Jones showed a greater ability to fight and executed takedowns are strong and powerful jets, including a suplex. Proving once again strikingly unorthodox as it had in its early days, Jones said one leg and Bonnar got an elbow that almost knocked out his opponent in the first round. Although it seemed to tire in the third round, Jones was ready to win another victory by unanimous decision. 

Jones was the third fight against Jake O'Brien at UFC 100 July 11, 2009. Jones controlled most of the fight for the filling of the attempts to shoot down your opponent. Jones remained on the outside, the exercise of his party to unite and find his range late in the first round with his right jab and kicks up and down. In the middle of the second round, Jones reached down and turned to deliver another of his signature elbow that hit the top of the head of O'Brien. Jones finally got a guillotine change that made his opponent briefly lost consciousness shortly after his call.

In September 2009, Jones was honored for his wins coming by signing a new four-fight contract with the UFC.
'5 And in December, 2009 Jones, met with a man in sight Bandy Matt Hamill at Ultimate Fighter Finale heavyweight. In spite of dominating the fight, Jones was disqualified from , using a variety of elbows 12-6. Mixed Martial Arts uniform rules and deny elbows down, and Jones was the first round, only to be penalized points. As Hamill could not continue, because the dislocation of the shoulder, Jones was rejected these strikes. Thus, the tape was reviewed and showed that the elbow Jones' remains damaged Hamill is already a bloody nose, and partly broken. 

This also marked the first time, Nevada has used instant replay of recently enacted a rule in which the arbitrator's decision was supported by the Commission, which use slow-motion control crankshaft. Some analysts thought Jones should have won the battle, as Hamill could not continue due to a shoulder injury and not illegal in the elbow (s) threw.

This loss is considered controversial because Jones has lost the battle, despite dominating the battle that point, Hamill fall, hitting out, and get a full installation and Hamill surprisingly, able to fight until the end, but as the strikes are 12-6 elbows, was disqualified.

Jones Brandon Vera fought March 21, 2010 at UFC Live:. Vera vs Jones He won the fight by TKO (elbow) caused by an elbow to the face followed by hitting Vera in the first round L '. elbow delivered to stop the fighting also broke Vera's face in three places. Jones also won the "Knockout of the Night" awards .

Jones defeated former IFL champion light heavyweight Vladimir Matyushenko because of the elbows at 1:52 of the first assault by TKO, August 1, 2010 to UFC Live:. Matyushenko vs Jones UFC President Dana White promised a step-Jones "in the great competition," if he managed to overcome Matyushenko.



After the fight with Matyushenko, UFC President Dana White said: "Vladimir Matyushenko is a guy I have great respect for, and I do not think it would happen so easily. Jones is the real deal and it flows into the night in the night's eight best in the world. it solidifies. go there and do what he did against Vladimir Matyushenko, and make it look so easy as he did tonight, he cements for me. This child is one of the top eight. in the world at that weight division, he must keep his head together, stay focused and keep doing all the right things in training, it is intelligent, good and bad-ass, he will do a lot of money -.. this baby is doing much good. right now in the 205-pound division, all these guys compete. When the smoke clears and the dust settles, will be Jon Jones fight against one of the top eight guys in the world for his next fight. "

After defeating Matyushenko, Jones said, he wanted a "top-three opponent" for his next fight.

Jones said in an interview on Inside MMA that he would face the winner of Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Ryan Bader . Reports that Jones was previously proposed a fight with Nogueira, but was denied the opportunity turned out to be false.  In the interview in MMA Jones also said he had been informed by Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta, if completed his next two fights, he probably would have gotten a title .

Dana White will soon be confirmed that Jones would have to face undefeated Ultimate Fighter winner Ryan Bader, February 5, 2011 UFC 126  Jones, Bader returned to his first professional loss by winning his way TapouT due to the guillotine to suppress the second round after dominated the first round of Bader. Jones has received the "Submission of the Night."

After the victory over Bader Jones, Jones revealed that the candidate degree and training partner Rashad Evans suffered a knee injury in training, and would not be able to compete in his first game scheduled with the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. Jones was told by Joe Rogan after his fight was over just going to replace Evans in the fight for the championship UFC light heavyweight
